Polymer Bead Demonstration

SKU #MER-100
Availability: In Stock
Qty.
Great for explaining self-siphoning polymers.

Description

This amazing demo starts when an end of a 50-ft length of beaded chain is pulled over the edge of its container. As the end falls and accelerates, the chain rises higher than the rim and seems suspended in the air. Students see this as a discrepant event. They will ask to see it again and again. This demo is great for explaining self-siphoning polymers and Newton's First Law. Holding the handle of the included large mug enhances the visibility.

It's really interesting to watch how far those beads jump up from the cup. Tons of fun.

All of my students love doing this demo. They are not expecting it...and the room fills with gasps and laughter. Then, "Can we do it again?"
