Light-sensitive paper that exposes in direct sunlight.

Description

Nature Print Paper
Nature Print Paper produces beautiful, permanent prints from natural and man-made materials. This unique light-sensitive paper exposes in direct sunlight to create white on blue prints. When placed on the paper, flat objects such as leaves, photo negatives, coins, cut-outs, lace, etc. block the sun and provide the subject for the print. This photographic-like image requires no inks, presses, photo equipment, darkroom, or chemicals. Exposure time is approximately 2-3 minutes (depending on the level of sunlight), then develop in water in seconds. It's fast, safe, and leaves no mess. Nature Print Paper is great for any age group and includes full, simple instructions. This paper is wonderful for discussing the differences between opaque, translucent, and transparent materials. Each package contains 40 sheets of 12.7 x 17.8 cm (5" x 7") light-sensitive paper.

Super Sized 11" x 17" Nature Print Paper
These giant sheets of Nature Print Paper are perfect for large group and science fair projects and produce large beautiful prints suitable for framing.

I've used Nature print for many years for science in school, for teaching about how we should reflect God's image as the leaf print reflects the image of the leaf in Bible School and Sunday School. The children love the results. I frame them before sending them home.

Simple, fun, and easy to use. Prints dry quickly in the sun. Kids get the concept right away and start bringing leaves, bugs and keys to make the photograms. Can also be used in a box camera with 2 hour exposures. Fun stuff.

This paper is fantastic! We spent hours on nature walks looking for great things to print. Arranging the different objects on the paper and experimenting with different lengths of time in the sun also provided endless entertainment. This is such a great product!

In my last position, I ordered science materials for all teachers in our district. One of the teachers always asked me specifically to order this sunprint paper for her class. They always made a great bulletin board display.

Nature Print Paper
Review star icon Review star icon Review star icon Review star icon Review star icon May 22, 2012
What a great activity to do at the end of the year when the sun is getting quite intense. My students had fun not only exploring the schoolyard looking for interesting items found in nature, but seeing how the items could be arranged to make an interesting "photo." They were amazed to see the results. Putting it in the water to intensify the picture worked for some, but not all. Overall, a great afternoon learning about light, shadows, and the effects made on certain paper.

place a transparacy copy of a plant or animal on the paper out in the sun, bring it in and 'develop' it in water. Sunsational down to the tiniest detail. Great for teaching the letter X hands-on!

We used this paper at a community fair related to solar power. It works very very well and is a great way to engage small kids. You can also stretch your budget with it--we did projects with over 100 kids.

We took these on vacation and had a great time making prints of things we found. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the results can be hit or miss. But mostly, we were happy with the paper and had some nice keepsakes of our vacation.

NGSS

This product will support your students' understanding of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)*, as shown in the table below.

Elementary Middle School High School

1-PS4-3

Students can use Nature Print Paper to plan and conduct an investigation to determine the effects of placing objects made with different materials in the path of a beam of light.

3-LS3-2

Students can use Nature Print Paper to gather evidence to support the explanation that traits can be influenced by the environment.

K-2-ETS1-2

Students can use Nature Print Paper to develop a simple sketch, drawing, or physical model to illustrate how the shape of an object helps it function as needed to solve a given problem.

MS-PS4-2

Students can use Nature Print Paper as they develop and use a model to describe that waves are reflected, absorbed, or transmitted through various materials.

MS-LS4-2

Students can use Nature Print Paper to apply scientific ideas to construct an explanation for the anatomical similarities and differences among modern organisms and between modern and fossil organisms in infer evolutionary relationships.

HS-PS4-1

Students can use Nature Print Paper in conjunction with mathematical representations to support a claim regarding relationships among the frequency, wavelength, and speed of waves traveling in various media.

HS-PS4-4

Students can use Nature Print Paper to evaluate the validity and reliability of claims in published materials of the effects that different frequencies of electromagnetic radiation have when absorbed by matter.

Suggested Science Idea(s)

DCI/HSPS4.B

This light-sensitive paper exposes in direct sunlight. Students can use it to test transparent, translucent, and opaque materials in their investigation of Electromagnetic Waves and the movement of waves.

3-LS3-2

Students can use Nature Print Paper to examine the profile of leaves and gather evidence to support the explanation that traits can be influenced by the environment.

K-2-ETS1-2

Students can use a variety of found objects to be developed on the Nature Print Paper. The picture will serve as a simple physical model to illustrate how the shape of an object helps it function as needed to solve a given problem.

MS-LS4-2

Students can use Nature Print Paper to create photo negatives of modern organisms like plants and animals. These two-dimensional images will aid students in observation skills of details. The shadow prints will simplify interpreting and understanding the fossil record, as well as the form and function of structures / traits.

HS-PS4-1

It would be interesting for students to use various media over the Nature Print Paper to see how the frequency, wavelength, and speed of waves travel differently. Exposure on the paper should vary.

HS-PS4-4

Students can use Nature Print Paper and vary the exposure time to evaluate the validity and reliability of claims in published materials of the effects that different frequencies of electromagnetic radiation have when absorbed by matter.
